Gary Godfrey

Born on March 25, 1931, in Emmett Idaho to Maurice and Luella Godfrey, Gary passed away on September 27, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Hoy Godfrey, and four sons, Brian Mitchel, 60, twins Dana Vincent, 58, Dennis Alan, 58, and Bruce Elliot, 56, as well as, four daughters-in-law, Janet Shelton, Marilyn Godfrey, Annette Godfrey and Tricia Godfrey. Gary is also survived by three grandchildren, Grace Godfrey-Mueller, Ava Petley and Ivan Godfrey, four great grandchildren Wyatt Petley, Audrey Petley, Oscar Mueller and Marilynn Rose Godfrey, and his sister Mary Anne Dougherty.

Gary completed high school in Corvallis, Oregon. He then joined the army and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged and completed his degree at Oregon State University where he became an avid, lifetime Beaver State fan and met his bride to be. He spent the early years after graduating at General Steamship where he met the ships coming in from around the world and oversaw them until their departure. He spent the next 30 years as a Realtor before he retired. Following retirement, Gary enjoyed nurturing his garden, in particular his tomato plants and painting. He was a wonderful artist whose work was included in community events and is treasured by family and friends.

Gary was a devoted father and family man. He also served his community as a Boy Scout leader. Gary was married to the love of his life, Bobbie, for over 61 years. In his later years, he greatly enjoyed the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren in his life.
